Home. Team.
What does that mean to you?
Last night the Cubs won the World Series in game 7 in truly dramatic fashion. People all over the country (the world?) are celebrating this monumental victory as many thought this day would literally never come. Loyal cubs fans have waited a lifetime for this.
I am by by no means a big sports fan. But I'm a sentimentalist. I've watched the ridiculous tear jerking celebratory commercials and cried and gotten goose bumps right along with the uber fans.
But back to the home team...they say that home is where the heart is, but my heart has been split all over the country like the Cubs fans for years. Life has caused many geographical changes and with that, a change in friendships of proximity. It is HARD to maintain so many long-distance peeps, but honestly, I love it. Anyone want to road trip? I probably have someone we can crash with wherever we decide to hang our hats for the night.
I love friendships like those described in this quote. When someone is so comfortable around you and in your space that they can get up and make themselves coffee or grab something out of the fridge without asking...that is one of your people. Recently I got to see my best friends for just a few days. It was the heart reset I needed. We talked. And then talked. And talked a little more. We drank coffee. We went shopping. We branched off in groups of 2 or 3 and then came back together as 6 seamlessly and with no communication about our choreography. It just...was. We just...were. And that is an incredible blessing in my life to have people who know my heart so well.
All we are is a group of imperfect people loving each other and trying to make the hard days that much better and the good days that much more celebrated! And there is beauty in that. As fall is here and with it, the changing of the leaves and weather, I find myself rather pensive and joyful most of the time. Life is not perfect, but it is my little pocket of imperfection, and it is pretty darn beautiful.
