"But it's not faaaaaaaaiiiiiir!"
How many times do we as parents, teachers, coaches, etc hear kids say that? Answer: All. The. Time.
And how many times as adults do we wish that it were acceptable behavior to whine that loudly ourselves. Same answer.
What did we usually hear as kids as a response to this question? Life's not fair. While true, it doesn't help too much to hear that when you're hurting, does it?
Life is hard! Some days I feel horribly burnt out of the daily grind (not including my coffee in that). It is ok if some days you barely scrape by. The point is to keep going and to hope that the next day is just a bit less difficult.
We are so tough on ourselves. Our biggest critic is usually the person looking back at us when we look in the mirror. You might be clinging to the edge of the cliff with one hand, but just hang in there. You'll get the strength to get that other hand up there. And eventually you'll pull yourself up and feel incredibly accomplished. But, if you need someone to help pull you up, that's ok too. There is no shame in asking for help. What you learn from it should equip you to play that role in the future for another person...just make sure that when that opportunity arises you offer your hand. And for now, hang in there.
